| 10 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
| 11 |
|
| 12 | Section 1. This act may be cited as the "Restoring Faith |
| 13 | in Public Office Act." |
| 14 | Section 2. Section 112.3171, Florida Statutes, is created |
| 15 | to read: |
| 16 | 112.3171 Misdemeanors involving solicitation or acceptance |
| 17 | of gifts, unauthorized compensation, or misuse of public |
| 18 | position.--A person who knowingly violates s. 112.313(2), (4), |
| 19 | or (6) commits a misdemeanor of the first degree, punishable as |
| 20 | provided in s. 775.082, and by a mandatory fine of $5,000 for |
| 21 | each offense, in addition to any other penalties imposed under |
| 22 | s. 112.317. |
| 23 | Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2010. |
