| 8 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
| 9 |

| 10 | Section 1. Paragraph (i) is added to subsection (3) of |
| 11 | section 383.14, Florida Statutes, to read: |
| 12 | 383.14 Screening for metabolic disorders, other hereditary |
| 13 | and congenital disorders, and environmental risk factors.- |
| 14 | (3) DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH; POWERS AND DUTIES.-The |
| 15 | department shall administer and provide certain services to |
| 16 | implement the provisions of this section and shall: |
| 17 | (i) Have the authority to collect payment, at the maximum |
| 18 | established Medicaid reimbursement rate associated with the |
| 19 | performance of newborn screening tests, from health care |
| 20 | insurers, health maintenance organizations, and other health |
| 21 | care providers. |

| 23 | All provisions of this subsection must be coordinated with the |
| 24 | provisions and plans established under this chapter, chapter |
| 25 | 411, and Pub. L. No. 99-457. |
| 26 | Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2010. |
