1	House Resolution
2	A resolution observing May 25, 2010, as "National Missing
3	Children's Day" in Florida.

5	WHEREAS, according to the United States Department of
6	Justice, approximately 800,000, children are reported missing
7	each year, and
8	WHEREAS, it is estimated that 2,200 children are reported
9	missing to law enforcement agencies each day, and
10	WHEREAS, in a given year, 58,200 of the children reported
11	missing are the victims of non-family abductions while more than
12	200,000 children are the victims of family abductions, and
13	WHEREAS, the National Center for Missing & Exploited
14	Children is a resource to help prevent child abduction and
15	sexual exploitation, locate missing children, and assist victims
16	of abductions and sexual exploitation, their families, and the
17	professionals who work with them, and
18	WHEREAS, the National Center for Missing & Exploited
19	Children has witnessed its recovery rate for children missing
20	domestically increase from 62 percent in 1990 to 96 percent
21	today, and
22	WHEREAS, it is important to set aside a special day to
23	remember those children who are missing and give hope to their
24	families that their children will one day be found, NOW,
25	THEREFORE,

27	Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
28	Florida:

30	That, May 25, 2010, is recognized as "National Missing
31	Children's Day" and all citizens and organizations are
32	encouraged to participate in learning about methods to prevent
33	child abduction and sexual exploitation and to help the children
34	of this state guard against being victims of abduction and
35	exploitation.
