    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to the breast cancer early detection
    3         and treatment referral program; amending s. 381.932,
    4         F.S.; revising certain criteria of the program by
    5         requiring that the public education and outreach
    6         initiative and professional education programs use
    7         guidelines established by the American Cancer Society
    8         rather than the United States Preventive Services Task
    9         Force; providing an effective date.

   11  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   12  
   13         Section 1. Paragraphs (a) and (b) of subsection (3) of
   14  section 381.932, Florida Statutes, are amended to read:
   15         381.932 Breast cancer early detection and treatment
   16  referral program.—
   17         (3) The program shall include, but not be limited to, the:
   18         (a) Establishment of a public education and outreach
   19  initiative to publicize breast cancer early detection services,
   20  the benefits of early detection of breast cancer, and the
   21  recommended frequency for receiving screening services,
   22  including clinical breast examinations and mammography
   23  guidelines established by the American Cancer Society United
   24  States Preventive Services Task Force.
   25         (b) Development of professional education programs that
   26  include information regarding the benefits of the early
   27  detection of breast cancer and the recommended frequency for
   28  receiving a mammogram, as recommended in the most current breast
   29  cancer screening guidelines established by the American Cancer
   30  Society United States Preventive Services Task Force.
   31         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2010.
