1 Senate Resolution
2 A resolution recognizing the value provided to this
3 state by NASCAR, the Homestead-Miami Speedway, and the
4 Ford Championship Weekend.

6 WHEREAS, Florida has long been the preeminent site in the
7 nation for professional motorsports racing, and
8 WHEREAS, Florida is the birthplace of the National
9 Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, the most popular form of
10 motorsports in the world, with more of the top 20 highest
11 attended sporting events in the United States than any other
12 sport, and
13 WHEREAS, the champions of NASCAR’s three national racing
14 series, the Camping World Truck Series, the Nationwide Series,
15 and the Sprint Cup Series, will be crowned during the upcoming
16 Ford Championship Weekend, November 19 through 21, at the
17 Homestead-Miami Speedway, and
18 WHEREAS, tens of thousands of fans from across the United
19 States and around the world will travel to South Florida to
20 watch these world-class events and enjoy the hospitality and
21 this beautiful state, while millions more nationwide will watch
22 the broadcasts of these events, and
23 WHEREAS, the State of Florida benefits from more than $250
24 million in annual economic impact that is generated by events at
25 the Homestead-Miami Speedway, and
26 WHEREAS, professional motorsports events annually create
27 more than $2 billion in economic impact and more than 38,000
28 jobs for this state, NOW, THEREFORE,

30 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

32 That the enormous value of NASCAR, the Homestead-Miami
33 Speedway, and the Ford Championship Weekend are hereby
34 recognized, and all residents and businesses of this state are
35 encouraged to join in supporting NASCAR’s Ford Championship
36 Weekend at the Homestead-Miami Speedway.
