| 5 | Section 4. Paragraph (a) of subsection (1) and subsection |
| 6 | (2) of section 97.055, Florida Statutes, are amended to read: |
| 7 | 97.055 Registration books; when closed for an election.- |
| 8 | (1)(a) The registration books must be closed on the 10th |
| 9 | 29th day before each election and must remain closed until after |
| 10 | that election. If an election is called and there are fewer than |
| 11 | 10 29 days before that election, the registration books must be |
| 12 | closed immediately. |
| 13 | (2) In computing the 10-day 29-day period for the closing |
| 14 | of the registration books, the day of the election is excluded |
| 15 | and all other days are included. If the 10th 29th day before |
| 16 | preceding an election falls on a Sunday or a legal holiday, the |
| 17 | registration books must be closed on the next day that is not a |
| 18 | Sunday or a legal holiday. |
