    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to the treatment of a surrendered
    3         newborn infant; amending s. 383.50, F.S.; presuming
    4         that the birth mother of a surrendered newborn infant
    5         is eligible for coverage under Medicaid as is the
    6         infant; providing an effective date.

    8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
    9  
   10         Section 1. Subsection (8) of section 383.50, Florida
   11  Statutes, is amended to read:
   12         383.50 Treatment of surrendered newborn infant.—
   13         (8) Any newborn infant admitted to a hospital in accordance
   14  with this section and the birth mother who bore the infant until
   15  the time of discharge from the hospital are is presumed eligible
   16  for coverage under Medicaid, subject to federal rules.
   17         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2011.
