       The Committee on Judiciary (Richter) recommended the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
    2  
    3         Between lines 34 and 35
    4  insert:
    5         Section 1. Subsection (9) of section 393.063, Florida
    6  Statutes, is amended, present subsections (13) through (40) of
    7  that section are redesignated as subsections (14) through (41),
    8  respectively, and a new subsection (13) is added to that
    9  section, to read:
   10         393.063 Definitions.—For the purposes of this chapter, the
   11  term:
   12         (9) “Developmental disability” means a disorder or syndrome
   13  that is attributable to retardation, cerebral palsy, autism,
   14  spina bifida, Down syndrome, or Prader-Willi syndrome; that
   15  manifests before the age of 18; and that constitutes a
   16  substantial handicap that can reasonably be expected to continue
   17  indefinitely.
   18         (13) “Down syndrome” means a disorder caused by the
   19  presence of an extra chromosome 21.

   23         Delete line 3
   24  and insert:
   25         disabilities; amending s. 393.063, F.S.; redefining
   26         the term “developmental disability” as used within ch.

   28         “Down syndrome” as it relates to developmental
   29         disabilities; amending s. 393.067, F.S.; prohibiting
