    1                          Senate Resolution                        
    2         A resolution recognizing the 2010-2011 Rickards High
    3         School Boys’ Basketball Team, winners of the 2011
    4         Florida High School Athletic Association Class 3A
    5         State Championship.
    6  
    7         WHEREAS, in a thrilling overtime victory at the Lakeland
    8  Center against Jones High School, the 2010-2011 Rickards High
    9  School Boys’ Basketball Team captured its second straight
   10  Florida High School Athletic Association Class 3A State
   11  Championship on March 3, 2011, by a score of 60 to 54, and
   12         WHEREAS, after winning the Florida Class 3A semifinals in
   13  overtime the night before against Pine Crest, the Raiders
   14  gathered their composure to obtain a 6-point win over Jones for
   15  the championship, and
   16         WHEREAS, led by Head Coach Eli Bryant and Assistant Coaches
   17  Avery Curry, Sr., and Chester Coffee, the Raiders finished the
   18  season with a 23-7 record, proving that poise, commitment, and
   19  hard work wins championships, and
   20         WHEREAS, the Rickards Raiders are the first Tallahassee
   21  area high school team to win consecutive championships in
   22  basketball since the teams from FAMU High in 1994 and 1995, and
   23         WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the 2010-2011 Rickards
   24  High School Boys’ Basketball Team is applauded for the numerous
   25  accomplishments of its players and coaches, NOW, THEREFORE,

   27  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:
   28  
   29         That the 2010-2011 Rickards High School Boys’ Basketball
   30  Team is recognized for its outstanding record and winning the
   31  2011 Florida High School Athletic Association Class 3A State
   32  Championship.
   33         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution, with
   34  the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to the 2010-2011
   35  Rickards Boys’ Basketball Team as a tangible token of the
   36  sentiments of the Florida Senate.
