    1                          Senate Resolution                        
    2         A resolution commending the Hillsborough Area Transit
    3         Authority for its invaluable customer service and
    4         dedication to meeting the transportation needs of the
    5         Tampa Bay Area and demonstrating a superior quality of
    6         service.

    8         WHEREAS, the Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority
    9  (HART) recently celebrated its 30th year of service to the Tampa
   10  Bay Area, and
   11         WHEREAS, HART’s growth is reflective of the growth of the
   12  Tampa Bay region, which is one of the nation’s most desirable
   13  places to live because of its natural beauty and low cost of
   14  living, and
   15         WHEREAS, HART has played an important role in maintaining a
   16  balance between protecting a fragile environment and fostering
   17  economic growth in the Tampa Bay Region and its surrounding
   18  communities, and
   19         WHEREAS, HART provided more than 13 million rides in 2009,
   20  which was a new agency record, and
   21         WHEREAS, HART has replaced 38 percent of its fleet to
   22  include the latest EPA-certified, low-emission engines,
   23  improving the average age of the fleet and making the customer
   24  experience more enjoyable, and
   25         WHEREAS, HART serves as a shining example of how a medium
   26  size transportation agency can effectively and efficiently meet
   27  the transportation needs of a growing region, and
   28         WHEREAS, HART provides vital transportation services for
   29  persons who otherwise would have no way to travel to and from
   30  their places of employment in the Tampa Bay Region, and
   31         WHEREAS, HART has demonstrated exceptional dedication to
   32  providing excellent customer service while building solutions to
   33  support Hillsborough County’s current and future transportation
   34  needs, and
   35         WHEREAS, HART was recently recognized as one of the best
   36  mid-size public transportation systems in North America, NOW,
   37  THEREFORE,

   39  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:
   40  
   41         That the Hillsborough Area Transit Authority is commended
   42  for its invaluable customer service and dedication to meeting
   43  the transportation needs of the Tampa Bay Area.
