A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to dangerous dogs; amending s. 767.11,
3F.S.; deleting language that includes any dog used
4primarily or in part for the purpose of dog fighting or a
5dog trained for dog fighting within the definition of
6"dangerous dog" for purposes of provisions regulating
7dangerous dogs; providing an effective date.

9Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11     Section 1.  Subsection (1) of section 767.11, Florida
12Statutes, is amended to read:
13     767.11  Definitions.-As used in this act, unless the
14context clearly requires otherwise:
15     (1)  "Dangerous dog" means any dog that according to the
16records of the appropriate authority:
17     (a)  Has aggressively bitten, attacked, or endangered or
18has inflicted severe injury on a human being on public or
19private property;
20     (b)  Has more than once severely injured or killed a
21domestic animal while off the owner's property;
22     (c)  Has been used primarily or in part for the purpose of
23dog fighting or is a dog trained for dog fighting; or
24     (c)(d)  Has, when unprovoked, chased or approached a person
25upon the streets, sidewalks, or any public grounds in a menacing
26fashion or apparent attitude of attack, provided that such
27actions are attested to in a sworn statement by one or more
28persons and dutifully investigated by the appropriate authority.
29     Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2011.
