1	A bill to be entitled
2	An act relating to resident status for tuition purposes;
3	amending s. 1009.21, F.S.; providing that veterans of the
4	Armed Services of the United States, including reserve
5	components thereof, who attend a public college,
6	university, or institution of higher learning are
7	residents for tuition purposes; providing an effective
8	date.

10	Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12	Section 1.  Present paragraphs (c) through (k) of
13	subsection (10) of section 1009.21, Florida Statutes, are
14	redesignated as paragraphs (d) through (l), respectively, and a
15	new paragraph (c) is added to that subsection, to read:
16	1009.21  Determination of resident status for tuition
17	purposes.-Students shall be classified as residents or
18	nonresidents for the purpose of assessing tuition in
19	postsecondary educational programs offered by charter technical
20	career centers or career centers operated by school districts,
21	in community colleges, and in state universities.
22	(10)  The following persons shall be classified as
23	residents for tuition purposes:
24	(c)  Veterans of the Armed Services of the United States,
25	including reserve components thereof, who attend a public
26	college, university, or institution of higher learning.
27	Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2011.
