| 4 | Remove lines 62-82 and insert: |
| 5 | duty in that circuit. |
| 6 | (2) The chief justice of a division of the supreme court |
| 7 | shall be designated by the governor, subject to confirmation by |
| 8 | the senate. The chief justices of the divisions shall serve |
| 9 | staggered terms of eight years and shall be the chief |
| 10 | administrative officers of their respective divisions. In the |
| 11 | second half of any term as chief justice of a division, the |
| 12 | chief justice shall serve as the chief justice of the supreme |
| 13 | court. A justice may serve more than one term as chief justice |
| 14 | of the division. A chief justice of a division is subject to the |
| 15 | same requirements of eligibility and retention as a justice of |
| 16 | the supreme court. |
