       The Committee on Budget (Simmons) recommended the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment 
    2  
    3         Delete lines 567 - 571
    4  and insert:
    5         3. Advanced degree.—A district school board may not use
    6  advanced degrees in setting a salary schedule for instructional
    7  personnel or school administrators hired on or after July 1,
    8  2011, unless the salary schedule provides that it is only a
    9  salary supplement and the advanced degree:
   10         a. Is held in the individual’s area of certification;
   11         b. Is in an area that is substantially similar to the
   12  individual’s area of certification; or
   13         c. Is in the area of exceptional student education.
