    1                          Senate Resolution                        
    2         A resolution commending the University of Florida
    3         men’s track and field team for its second National
    4         Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Indoor
    5         Championship.

    7         WHEREAS, the University of Florida athletics program has
    8  long been recognized for its tradition of stellar performance in
    9  all intercollegiate sports, and
   10         WHEREAS, the University of Florida men’s track and field
   11  team has continued this tradition, achieved through hard work,
   12  determination, and a winning attitude, and
   13         WHEREAS, the University of Florida men’s track and field
   14  team grew and matured under the experienced and skillful
   15  guidance of head coach Mike Holloway, and
   16         WHEREAS, the University of Florida men’s track and field
   17  team captured its second NCAA Indoor Championship, becoming only
   18  the fourth men’s program in NCAA history to claim back-to-back
   19  NCAA indoor championships, on Saturday, March 12, 2011, at the
   20  Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium on the campus of Texas A&M
   21  University, scoring 52 total team points and beating Texas A&M
   22  University by 12 points, and
   23         WHEREAS, this national championship victory by the
   24  University of Florida men’s track and field team marks the 25th
   25  national title won by a Gator sports team, NOW, THEREFORE,

   27  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:
   28  
   29         That the members of the Senate salute the University of
   30  Florida men’s track and field team for winning its second
   31  consecutive NCAA Indoor Championship.
   32         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution, with
   33  the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to the University
   34  of Florida men’s track and field team as a tangible token of the
   35  sentiments of the Florida Senate.
