    1                          Senate Resolution                        
    2         A resolution designating Christopher M. Still as
    3         Artist in Residence of the Florida Legislature.

    5         WHEREAS, born in 1961, Christopher M. Still is a native
    6  Floridian who received a full scholarship through a national
    7  competition to the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, where he
    8  earned awards for outstanding accomplishment in painting, a
    9  European Travel Fellowship, and the Pennsylvania Governor’s
   10  Award for outstanding accomplishment in Fine Art, and
   11         WHEREAS, Christopher M. Still continued his studies with
   12  courses in human anatomy at Jefferson Medical School and
   13  apprenticeship in traditional techniques in Florence, Italy, and
   14         WHEREAS, in 1986, Christopher M. Still returned to the
   15  Tampa Bay area to explore his home state through his art,
   16  creating an impressive body of work that includes 10 murals in
   17  the chamber of the Florida House Of Representatives and the
   18  official state portrait of Governor Lawton Chiles, and
   19         WHEREAS, the works of Christopher M. Still are included in
   20  the collections of the Appleton Museum of Art, in Ocala; the
   21  Florida Governor’s Mansion; the Florida House of
   22  Representatives; the Smithsonian Institute, in Washington, D.C.;
   23  the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, in Sarasota; the
   24  Museum of Fine Arts, in St. Petersburg; and many others, and
   25         WHEREAS, in 2010, Christopher M. Still was inducted into
   26  the Florida Artists Hall of Fame, and
   27         WHEREAS, Christopher M. Still’s work has, with
   28  extraordinary technical and compositional skill, uniquely
   29  portrayed the history and beauty of his native state, NOW,
   30  THEREFORE,

   34         That Christopher M. Still is designated as Artist in
   35  Residence of the Florida Legislature.
