House Memorial
2A memorial to the Congress of the United States,
3urging Congress to propose to the states an amendment
4to the Constitution of the United States that would
5limit the consecutive terms of office which a member
6of the United States Senate or the United States House
7of Representatives may serve.

9     WHEREAS, Article V of the Constitution of the United States
10authorizes Congress to propose amendments to the Constitution
11which shall become valid when ratified by the states, and
12     WHEREAS, a continuous and growing concern has been
13expressed that the best interests of this nation will be served
14by limiting the terms of members of Congress, a concern
15expressed by the founding fathers, incorporated into the
16Articles of Confederation, attempted through legislation adopted
17by state legislatures, and documented in recent media polls,
18NOW, THEREFORE,

20Be It Resolved by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

22     That the Florida Legislature respectfully petitions the
23Congress of the United States to propose to the states an
24amendment to the Constitution of the United States to limit the
25number of consecutive terms which a person may serve in the
26United States Senate or the United States House of
27Representatives.
28     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be
29dispatched to the President of the United States, to the
30President of the United States Senate, to the Speaker of the
31United States House of Representatives, and to each member of
32the Florida delegation to the United States Congress.
