    1                          Senate Resolution                        
    2         A resolution recognizing February 4, 2012, as the
    3         150th Anniversary of Bacardi rum.
    4  
    5         WHEREAS, Bacardi rum was created in Santiago, Cuba, in 1862
    6  by Bacardi founder Don Facundo Bacardi Masso and has grown to be
    7  the world’s most awarded and best-selling premium rum, and
    8         WHEREAS, today, Bacardi is the largest privately held
    9  spirits company in the world, headed by Facundo L. Bacardi, the
   10  great-grandson of the company founder, and
   11         WHEREAS, Bacardi rum is made in Catano, Puerto Rico, at the
   12  largest premium rum distillery in the world and bottled in
   13  Jacksonville, the sole bottling plant for Bacardi products in
   14  the United States, and
   15         WHEREAS, Bacardi’s Jacksonville campus is home to a global
   16  research and new product development facility, and Bacardi
   17  U.S.A., Inc., based in Coral Gables, is the distribution hub of
   18  Bacardi rum in the United States, NOW, THEREFORE,

   20  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

   22         That February 4, 2012, is recognized as the 150th
   23  Anniversary of Bacardi rum.
