    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to the state group insurance program;
    3         amending s. 110.123, F.S.; revising the definition of
    4         the term “health plan member” to authorize the same
    5         sex domestic partner of an enrollee to qualify as a
    6         covered dependent and participate as a health plan
    7         member in the state group insurance program; providing
    8         an effective date.

   10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   11  
   12         Section 1. Paragraph (e) of subsection (2) of section
   13  110.123, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:
   14         110.123 State group insurance program.—
   15         (2) DEFINITIONS.—As used in this section, the term:
   16         (e) “Health plan member” means any person participating in
   17  a state group health insurance plan, a TRICARE supplemental
   18  insurance plan, or a health maintenance organization plan under
   19  the state group insurance program, including enrollees and
   20  covered dependents thereof. For purposes of this paragraph, the
   21  same-sex domestic partner of an enrollee qualifies as a covered
   22  dependent and may participate as a health plan member in a state
   23  group health insurance plan, a TRICARE supplemental insurance
   24  plan, or a health maintenance organization plan under the state
   25  group insurance program.
   26         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2013.
