    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to military affairs; creating s.
    3         250.335, F.S.; requiring annual mandatory mental
    4         health screening for members of the Florida National
    5         Guard at the expense of the state; requiring periodic,
    6         mandatory mental health screening before and after
    7         specified deployment for active duty military service;
    8         providing an effective date.

   10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   11  
   12         Section 1. Section 250.335, Florida Statutes, is created to
   13  read:
   14         250.335 Mental health screening.—Every member of the
   15  Florida National Guard shall be provided with mandatory
   16  screening for existing or potential mental health disorders at
   17  the expense of the state:
   18         (1) Annually, according to a schedule developed by the
   19  Adjutant General;
   20         (2) Thirty days before returning from overseas deployment
   21  for active duty military service; and
   22         (3) When scheduled for deployment to active duty military
   23  service following a previous deployment for active duty military
   24  service.
   25         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2013.
