       Senator Soto moved the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment 
    2  
    3         Between lines 1703 and 1704
    4  insert:
    5         8. A student who scores within 5 points below the benchmark
    6  for passage on the statewide, standardized assessment, who has
    7  passing grades in reading, and who receives a recommendation for
    8  promotion from the student’s teacher and principal shall be
    9  provided an intensive reading program until such time as the
   10  student receives a passing score on the statewide, standardized
   11  assessment.
