    1                          Senate Resolution                        
    2         A resolution recognizing the invaluable contributions
    3         of Florida Park Service volunteers to this state.
    4  
    5         WHEREAS, the mission of the Florida Park Service is to
    6  provide resource-based recreation while preserving,
    7  interpreting, and restoring natural and cultural resources, and
    8         WHEREAS, public service is the central theme of every
    9  Florida Park Service endeavor, with high standards of management
   10  and service earning the park service bragging rights as the
   11  first three-time National Gold Medal winner for excellence in
   12  the management of state park systems, and
   13         WHEREAS, initiated in 1977, the official volunteer program
   14  of the Florida Park Service allows volunteers to provide a much
   15  needed supplemental work force to enhance overall park service
   16  operations, and
   17         WHEREAS, opportunities for volunteer service are as diverse
   18  as the parks themselves and include service in the areas of
   19  resource management and environmental education and
   20  interpretation, and
   21         WHEREAS, volunteers with the Florida Park Service expand
   22  the ability of the service to provide quality service,
   23  professionalism, support, and stewardship without increasing the
   24  cost to visitors and taxpayers, and
   25         WHEREAS, Florida Park Service volunteers play a critical
   26  role in helping this state to preserve our natural and cultural
   27  heritage for future generations, NOW, THEREFORE,

   29  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:
   30  
   31         That the invaluable contributions of Florida Park Service
   32  volunteers to this state are recognized.
