Senator Legg moved the following:
1 Senate Amendment (with title amendment)

3 Between lines 1789 and 1790
4 insert:
5 Section 30. The Office of Early Learning shall conduct a 2
6 year pilot project to study the impact of assessing the early
7 literacy skills of Voluntary Prekindergarten Education Program
8 participants who are English Language Learners, in both English
9 and Spanish. The assessments must include, at a minimum, the
10 first administration of the Florida Assessments for Instruction
11 in Reading in kindergarten and an appropriate alternative
12 assessment in Spanish. The study must include a review of the
13 kindergarten screening results for 2009-2010 and 2010-2011
14 program participants and their subsequent Florida Comprehensive
15 Assessment Test scores. The office shall annually report its
16 findings to the Governor, the President of the Senate, and the
17 Speaker of the House of Representatives by July 1, 2015, and
18 July 1, 2016.
