    1                          Senate Resolution                        
    2         A resolution expressing appreciation for the sister
    3         state relationship between the State of Florida and
    4         the Republic of China (Taiwan).
    5  
    6         WHEREAS, Florida maintains and values its sister-state
    7  relationship with the Republic of China (Taiwan), and
    8         WHEREAS, April 10, 2014, marks the 35th anniversary of the
    9  enactment of the Taiwan Relations Act, codifying in law the
   10  basis for continued commercial and cultural relations between
   11  the United States and the Republic of China (Taiwan), and
   12         WHEREAS, the Republic of China (Taiwan) is Florida’s eighth
   13  largest export market in Asia, Miami’s fourth largest trade
   14  partner in Asia, and the Port of Miami’s sixth largest export
   15  country, and
   16         WHEREAS, sisterhood relationships exist between the State
   17  of Florida and the Republic of China (Taiwan), Miami-Dade County
   18  and New Taipei City (formerly Taipei County), and the Port of
   19  Miami and Port Kaohsiung, NOW, THEREFORE,

   21  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:
   22  
   23  That the Florida Senate expresses its appreciation for the
   24  sister-state relationship between the State of Florida and the
   25  Republic of China (Taiwan).
   26         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
   27  presented to the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Miami
   28  and the Office of the Governor of the State of Florida as a
   29  tangible token of the sentiments expressed herein.
