    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to fee waivers for military veterans;
    3         amending s. 455.213, F.S.; increasing the amount of
    4         time available for a military veteran to apply to the
    5         Department of Business and Professional Regulation for
    6         certain licenses without paying initial fees;
    7         providing an effective date.

    9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   10  
   11         Section 1. Subsection (12) of section 455.213, Florida
   12  Statutes, is amended to read:
   13         455.213 General licensing provisions.—
   14         (12) The department shall waive the initial licensing fee,
   15  the initial application fee, and the initial unlicensed activity
   16  fee for a military veteran who applies to the department for a
   17  license, in a format prescribed by the department, within 60 24
   18  months after discharge from any branch of the United States
   19  Armed Forces. To qualify for this waiver, the veteran must have
   20  been honorably discharged.
   21         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2014.
