Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Tourism, and
Economic Development (Brandes) recommended the following:
1 Senate Amendment (with title amendment)

3 Delete everything after the enacting clause
4 and insert:
5 Section 1. Paragraph (o) is added to subsection (4) of
6 section 320.08, Florida Statutes, to read:
7 320.08 License taxes.—Except as otherwise provided herein,
8 there are hereby levied and imposed annual license taxes for the
9 operation of motor vehicles, mopeds, motorized bicycles as
10 defined in s. 316.003(2), tri-vehicles as defined in s. 316.003,
11 and mobile homes, as defined in s. 320.01, which shall be paid
12 to and collected by the department or its agent upon the
13 registration or renewal of registration of the following:
14 (4) HEAVY TRUCKS, TRUCK TRACTORS, FEES ACCORDING TO GROSS
15 VEHICLE WEIGHT.—
16 (o) A melon-hauling vehicle is eligible for a restricted
17 license plate for a fee of: $87.75 flat, of which $22.75 shall
18 be deposited into the General Revenue Fund.

20 The term “melon-hauling vehicle” means a vehicle with a declared
21 gross vehicle weight of less than 44,000 pounds which is used
22 for the purpose of transporting melons from a farm or harvest
23 place to the first place of processing, storage, or sale within
24 150 miles of the farmer’s farm.
25 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2015.

31 and insert:
32 A bill to be entitled
33 An act relating to registration of melon-hauling
34 vehicles; amending s. 320.08, F.S.; providing that a
35 melon-hauling vehicle is eligible for a restricted
36 license plate for a specified fee; requiring that a
37 specified amount of such fee be deposited into the
38 General Revenue Fund; defining the term “melon-hauling
39 vehicle”; providing an effective date.
