    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to registration of melon-hauling
    3         vehicles; amending s. 320.08, F.S.; providing that a
    4         melon-hauling vehicle is eligible for a restricted
    5         license plate for a specified fee; requiring that a
    6         specified amount of such fee be deposited into the
    7         General Revenue Fund; defining the term “melon-hauling
    8         vehicle”; providing an effective date.

   10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   11  
   12         Section 1. Paragraph (o) is added to subsection (4) of
   13  section 320.08, Florida Statutes, to read:
   14         320.08 License taxes.—Except as otherwise provided herein,
   15  there are hereby levied and imposed annual license taxes for the
   16  operation of motor vehicles, mopeds, motorized bicycles as
   17  defined in s. 316.003(2), tri-vehicles as defined in s. 316.003,
   18  and mobile homes, as defined in s. 320.01, which shall be paid
   19  to and collected by the department or its agent upon the
   20  registration or renewal of registration of the following:
   21         (4) HEAVY TRUCKS, TRUCK TRACTORS, FEES ACCORDING TO GROSS
   22  VEHICLE WEIGHT.—
   23         (o) A melon-hauling vehicle is eligible for a restricted
   24  license plate for a fee of: $87.75 flat, of which $22.75 shall
   25  be deposited into the General Revenue Fund.

   27  The term “melon-hauling vehicle” means a vehicle with a declared
   28  gross vehicle weight of less than 44,000 pounds which is used
   29  for the purpose of transporting melons from a farm or harvest
   30  place to the first place of processing, storage, or sale within
   31  150 miles of the farmer’s farm.
   32         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2015.
