    1                          Senate Resolution                        
    2         A resolution recognizing March 23-29, 2015, as “Health
    3         Information Technology Week” in Florida.
    4  
    5         WHEREAS, health information technology and management
    6  systems are recognized as essential tools for improving the
    7  quality of patient care, ensuring patient safety, eliminating
    8  duplicative tests and paperwork, and reducing health care costs,
    9  and
   10         WHEREAS, health information technology makes complete and
   11  accurate health records immediately available to physicians and
   12  patients, and
   13         WHEREAS, this state is committed to implementing health
   14  information technology, including the adoption of the use of
   15  electronic health records, which will help to reduce costs and
   16  improve quality while ensuring patient privacy, and
   17         WHEREAS, aligning the use of electronic health records with
   18  other electronic reporting initiatives is critical to improving
   19  clinical outcomes, controlling costs, and expanding access to
   20  care, and
   21         WHEREAS, since 2006, organizations across the country have
   22  united to support Health Information Technology Week to raise
   23  public awareness of the benefits of the implementation of health
   24  information technology, NOW, THEREFORE,

   26  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:
   27  
   28         That March 23-29, 2015, is recognized as “Health
   29  Information Technology Week” in Florida.
   30         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution, with
   31  the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to the Healthcare
   32  Information and Management Systems Society as a tangible token
   33  of the sentiments of the Florida Senate.
