    2         A resolution recognizing April 2015 as “Landscape
    3         Architecture Month” in Florida.
    4  
    5         WHEREAS, landscape architects serve to preserve, protect,
    6  and conserve Florida’s scenic beauty, unique and fragile
    7  ecosystems, and abundant natural resources through thoughtful
    8  planning and design and careful stewardship, and
    9         WHEREAS, the profession of landscape architecture
   10  significantly enriches the quality of life enjoyed by Floridians
   11  and visitors to this great state by artfully creating safe,
   12  functional, accessible, and aesthetically pleasing public and
   13  private places, and
   14         WHEREAS, landscape architects foster and promote the
   15  economically and ecologically sustainable development of the
   16  state’s land and water resources for present enjoyment, while
   17  ensuring the same opportunity to future generations, and
   18         WHEREAS, the profession of landscape architecture
   19  encompasses the analysis, planning, design, management, and
   20  stewardship of natural and built environments through a broad
   21  and diverse spectrum of projects, including water resource
   22  management, stormwater conveyance systems, urban design,
   23  streetscapes, transportation facilities, greenways and parks,
   24  residential and commercial spaces, monuments, historic
   25  preservation and restoration spaces, hospitality spaces and
   26  resorts, academic campuses, and conservation and reclamation
   27  lands, as well as landscape art, earth sculptures, gardens,
   28  arboreta, and interior landscapes, and
   29         WHEREAS, excellence in the practice of professional
   30  landscape architecture is promoted through undergraduate and
   31  graduate programs offered through the State University System
   32  and regulated by the Department of Business and Professional
   33  Regulation and the Board of Landscape Architecture, and
   34         WHEREAS, the profession of landscape architecture serves a
   35  unique and vital role in both green and development industries
   36  in Florida, NOW, THEREFORE,

   38  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:
   39  
   40         That April 2015 is recognized as “Landscape Architecture
   41  Month” in Florida, honoring and celebrating the valuable and
   42  important contributions made by landscape architects for the
   43  betterment of the state.
