       Senator Altman moved the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment (with title amendment)

    3         Between lines 1153 and 1154
    4  insert:
    5         Section 6. Paragraph (a) of subsection (4) of section
    6  320.0894, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:
    7         320.0894 Motor vehicle license plates to Gold Star family
    8  members.—The department shall develop a special license plate
    9  honoring the family members of servicemembers who have been
   10  killed while serving in the Armed Forces of the United States.
   11  The license plate shall be officially designated as the Gold
   12  Star license plate and shall be developed and issued as provided
   13  in this section.
   14         (4)(a)1.a. The Gold Star license plate shall be issued only
   15  to family members of a servicemember who resided in Florida at
   16  the time of the death of the servicemember.
   17         b. Any family member, as defined in subparagraph 2., of a
   18  servicemember killed while serving may be issued a Gold Star
   19  license plate upon payment of the license tax and appropriate
   20  fees as provided in paragraph (3)(a) without regard to the state
   21  of residence of the servicemember.
   22         2. To qualify for issuance of a Gold Star license plate,
   23  the applicant must be directly related to a fallen servicemember
   24  as spouse, legal mother or father, or stepparent who is
   25  currently married to the mother or father of the fallen
   26  servicemember, sibling, half sibling, child, or stepchild.
   27         3. A servicemember is deemed to have been killed while in
   28  service as listed by the United States Department of Defense and
   29  may be verified from documentation directly from the Department
   30  of Defense or from its subordinate agencies, such as the Coast
   31  Guard, Reserve, or National Guard.

   38         320.08053, F.S., relating to requirements for requests
   39         to establish a specialty license plate; deleting
   40         application requirements; revising presale
   41         requirements; providing an exception to the presale
   42         requirements for certain specialty plates; amending s.
   43         320.08056, F.S.; authorizing a request for a specialty
   44         plate to be made annually to an authorized agent
   45         serving on behalf of the Department of Highway Safety
   46         and Motor Vehicles; deleting certain specialty license
   47         plates from the list of license plates for which an
   48         annual use fee must be collected; revising the minimum
   49         requirements to continue issuance of certain specialty
   50         plates; providing an exception to the minimum
   51         requirements for certain specialty plates; conforming
   52         cross-references; amending s. 320.08058, F.S.;
   53         deleting specified specialty license plates; revising
   54         provisions relating to specified specialty license
   55         plates; conforming cross-references; amending ss.
   56         320.08056 and 320.08058, F.S.; directing the
   57         Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles to
   58         develop certain specialty license plates; establishing
   59         an annual use fee for the plates; providing for
   60         distribution and use of fees collected from the sale
   61         of the plates; amending s. 320.0894, F.S.; including
   62         certain individuals as qualified for issuance of a
   63         Gold Star license plate; providing effective dates.
