    1                          Senate Resolution                        
    2         A resolution honoring and remembering the crew members
    3         of the container ship El Faro and offering heartfelt
    4         condolences to their families, friends, and loved
    5         ones.
    6  
    7         WHEREAS, El Faro, a 790-foot container ship, departed from
    8  Jacksonville for Puerto Rico on September 29, 2015, with 33 crew
    9  members aboard, and
   10         WHEREAS, the crew of El Faro consisted of 28 citizens of
   11  the United States, including several from or with families in
   12  this state, and 5 Polish nationals, and
   13         WHEREAS, the last communication from El Faro occurred on
   14  October 1, 2015, and
   15         WHEREAS, the United States Coast Guard determined that El
   16  Faro sank with all crew members on board, and
   17         WHEREAS, the crew was part of the fabric of the vibrant
   18  industry overseen by the Jacksonville Port Authority and
   19  contributed to the $27-billion impact of Florida’s 14 deepwater
   20  ports, and
   21         WHEREAS, the residents of Jacksonville and the people of
   22  this state mourn the loss of Louis Marko Champa, Roosevelt
   23  Lazarra Clark, Sylvester C. Crawford, Jr., Captain Michael
   24  Christopher Davidson, Brookie Larry Davis, Keith William
   25  Griffin, Frank J. Hamm, Joe Edward Hargrove, Carey J. Hatch,
   26  Michael Lee Holland, Jack Edward Jackson, Jackie Roberts Jones,
   27  Jr., Lonnie S. Jordan, Piotr Marek Krause, Mitchell T. Kuflik,
   28  Roan Ronald Lightfoot, Jeffrey Allen Mathias, Dylan O. Meklin,
   29  Marcin Nita, Jan Podgórski, James Phillip Porter, Richard Joseph

   39  members who lost their lives aboard El Faro and offers heartfelt
   40  condolences to their families, friends, and loved ones.
