    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to state university fee waivers;
    3         amending s. 1009.26, F.S.; requiring a state
    4         university to waive certain fees for certain graduate
    5         students; providing for funding of the waiver;
    6         providing an effective date.

    8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
    9  
   10         Section 1. Subsection (14) is added to section 1009.26,
   11  Florida Statutes, to read:
   12         1009.26 Fee waivers.—
   13         (14) A state university shall waive any or all application
   14  fees and tuition and related fees for a graduate student who has
   15  at least a 0.25 full-time equivalent appointment as a graduate
   16  assistant, graduate research assistant, graduate teaching
   17  assistant, graduate research associate, or graduate teaching
   18  associate. A state university shall fund this waiver from annual
   19  funds provided in the General Appropriations Act for the general
   20  operations of universities.
   21         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2016.
