       Appropriations Subcommittee on Education (Stargel) recommended
       the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment (with title amendment)

    3         Delete lines 16 - 39
    4  and insert:
    5         Section 1. Section 1004.096, Florida Statutes, is amended
    6  to read:
    7         1004.096 College credit for military training and education
    8  courses.—The Board of Governors shall adopt regulations and the
    9  State Board of Education shall adopt rules that enable eligible
   10  servicemembers or honorably discharged veterans members of the
   11  United States Armed Forces to earn academic college credit at
   12  public postsecondary educational institutions for college-level
   13  training and education acquired in the military. The regulations
   14  and rules shall include procedures for credential evaluation and
   15  the award of academic college credit, including, but not limited
   16  to, equivalency and alignment of military coursework with
   17  appropriate college courses, course descriptions, type and
   18  amount of college credit that may be awarded, and transfer of
   19  credit.
   20         Section 2. Subsection (2) of section 1007.27, Florida
   21  Statutes, is amended to read:
   22         1007.27 Articulated acceleration mechanisms.—
   23         (2) The Department of Education shall annually identify and
   24  publish the minimum scores, maximum credit, and course or
   25  courses for which credit is to be awarded for each College Level
   26  Examination Program (CLEP) subject examination, College Board
   27  Advanced Placement Program examination, Advanced International
   28  Certificate of Education examination, and International
   29  Baccalaureate examination, Excelsior College subject
   30  examination, Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education
   31  Support (DANTES) subject standardized test, and Defense Language
   32  Proficiency Test (DLPT). The department shall use student
   33  performance data in subsequent postsecondary courses to
   34  determine the appropriate examination scores and courses for
   35  which credit is to be granted. Minimum scores may vary by
   36  subject area based on available performance data. In addition,
   37  the department shall identify such courses in the general
   38  education core curriculum of each state university and Florida
   39  College System institution.

   44  and insert:

   49         examinations for which the department is required to
