    1                          Senate Resolution                        
    2         A resolution supporting the decision of the United
    3         States Air Force in awarding the contract for the
    4         Long-Range Strike Bomber to Northrop Grumman.
    5  
    6         WHEREAS, after an extensive evaluation process, the United
    7  States Air Force awarded the Long-Range Strike Bomber contract
    8  to Northrop Grumman Corporation in October 2015, and
    9         WHEREAS, a new strategic bomber is essential to our
   10  national defense and Northrop Grumman is the only company that
   11  has designed, built, maintained, and modernized a long-range,
   12  stealth bomber of this type in its production of the B-2 Spirit
   13  aircraft, and
   14         WHEREAS, federal auditors in the Government Accountability
   15  Office, a nonpartisan congressional agency, announced February
   16  16, 2016, that they had rejected a protest by two other bidders
   17  and upheld the United States Air Force’s awarding of the
   18  contract to Northrop Grumman, and
   19         WHEREAS, further efforts to overturn the decision of the
   20  United States Air Force concerning its detailed analysis of this
   21  project and contract award could prove detrimental to our
   22  national security, and it is imperative that elected officials
   23  support the decisionmakers whom they entrust with these
   24  important determinations, NOW, THEREFORE,

   26  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:
   27  
   28         That the Senate supports the decision of the United States
   29  Air Force concerning the awarding of the Long-Range Strike
   30  Bomber contract and looks forward to the start of this
   31  critically important project by the outstanding workers at
   32  Northrop Grumman.
