    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to a state law enforcement trust fund;
    3         creating s. 945.21505, F.S.; creating the State Law
    4         Enforcement Trust Fund; specifying the funds that the
    5         Department of Corrections may deposit into the trust
    6         fund; specifying that balances in the trust fund may
    7         carry over to the following fiscal year; exempting the
    8         trust fund from specified service charges; providing
    9         an effective date.

   11  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   12  
   13         Section 1. Section 945.21505, Florida Statutes, is created
   14  to read:
   15         945.21505 State Law Enforcement Trust Fund.—
   16         (1) The State Law Enforcement Trust Fund is created within
   17  the Department of Corrections. The department may deposit into
   18  the trust fund confiscated contraband cash as well as revenues
   19  received as a result of state criminal, administrative, or civil
   20  forfeiture proceedings and from state asset-sharing programs to
   21  support law enforcement activities within the department.
   22         (2) Notwithstanding s. 216.301, and pursuant to s. 216.351,
   23  any balance in the trust fund at the end of the fiscal year will
   24  remain in the trust fund and be available for carrying out the
   25  purposes of the trust fund. The trust fund is exempt from the
   26  service charges imposed by s. 215.20.
   27         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2017.
