    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to career education; amending s.
    3         1004.92, F.S.; authorizing the Commissioner of
    4         Education to establish an advisory committee to review
    5         and evaluate career education program standards;
    6         providing membership; requiring the committee to
    7         submit its findings and recommendations to the
    8         commissioner and the State Board of Education by a
    9         specified date; providing for future expiration;
   10         providing an effective date.

   12  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   13  
   14         Section 1. Subsection (4) is added to section 1004.92,
   15  Florida Statutes, to read:
   16         1004.92 Purpose and responsibilities for career education.—
   17         (4) The Commissioner of Education may establish an advisory
   18  committee for the purpose of reviewing and evaluating the
   19  standards developed by the Department of Education for career
   20  education programs. The committee must be composed of an odd
   21  number of members who represent the public and private sectors
   22  and who are appointed by the Commissioner of Education and the
   23  Chancellor of the Division of Career and Adult Education. The
   24  committee shall submit its findings and recommendations to the
   25  commissioner and the State Board of Education by December 31,
   26  2017. This subsection expires January 1, 2018.
   27         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2017.
