2 A resolution congratulating Jimmy and Johnny Patronis
3 as they celebrate 50 years at the helm of Capt.
4 Anderson’s in Panama City Beach.

6 WHEREAS, since 1967, Capt. Anderson’s, now known as Capt.
7 Anderson’s Restaurant and Waterfront Market, has been owned by
8 brothers Jimmy and Johnny Patronis, who grew up in a Tallahassee
9 family restaurant business, and
10 WHEREAS, for 50 years, the Patronis brothers have worked at
11 Capt. Anderson’s nearly every business day, alternating day
12 shifts and night shifts every other day, and meeting between
13 shifts to plan the next day, and
14 WHEREAS, offering the best of the Gulf Coast’s seafood
15 fare, Capt. Anderson’s has won the loyalty of millions of
16 customers and friends and has earned a spot among America’s top
17 50 restaurants, and
18 WHEREAS, Capt. Anderson’s has won numerous honors and
19 awards, including being named “Best Seafood Restaurant” by
20 Southern Living and receiving Wine Spectator’s “Award of
21 Excellence” and, in 2005, receiving the highest honor of
22 induction into Florida Trend’s Restaurant Hall of Fame, and
23 WHEREAS, Capt. Anderson’s works year-round with fishermen,
24 oystermen, and others who make their livings harvesting seafood
25 from the Gulf and Bay waters to preserve and protect the fragile
26 coastal ecology, and
27 WHEREAS, Capt. Anderson’s has grown to 725 seats, employs a
28 177-member staff with an average length of employment exceeding
29 25 years, and serves more than 250,000 guests during its 8-month
30 season, NOW, THEREFORE,

32 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

34 That the members of the Senate extend their congratulations
35 to Jimmy and Johnny Patronis as they celebrate 50 years at the
36 helm of Capt. Anderson’s.
37 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution, with
38 the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to Jimmy and Johnny
39 Patronis as a tangible token of the sentiments of the Florida
40 Senate.
