2 An act relating to school health immunizations;
3 providing a short title; amending s. 1003.22, F.S.;
4 revising child immunization requirements to include a
5 vaccine for human papillomavirus; providing an
6 effective date.

8 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10 Section 1. This act shall be cited as the “Women’s Cancer
11 Prevention Act.”
12 Section 2. Subsection (3) of section 1003.22, Florida
13 Statutes, is amended to read:
14 1003.22 School-entry health examinations; immunization
15 against communicable diseases; exemptions; duties of Department
16 of Health.—
17 (3) The Department of Health may adopt rules necessary to
18 administer and enforce this section. The Department of Health,
19 after consultation with the Department of Education, shall adopt
20 rules governing the immunization of children against, the
21 testing for, and the control of preventable communicable
22 diseases. The rules must include procedures for exempting a
23 child from immunization requirements. Immunizations shall be
24 required for poliomyelitis, diphtheria, rubeola, rubella,
25 pertussis, mumps, tetanus, human papillomavirus, and other
26 communicable diseases as determined by rules of the Department
27 of Health. The manner and frequency of administration of the
28 immunization or testing shall conform to recognized standards of
29 medical practice. The Department of Health shall supervise and
30 secure the enforcement of the required immunization.
31 Immunizations required by this section shall be available at no
32 cost from the county health departments.
33 Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2018.
