    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to concealed weapons and firearms on
    3         private school property; amending s. 790.115, F.S.;
    4         specifying that concealed weapon and concealed firearm
    5         licensees are not prohibited by specified laws from
    6         carrying such weapons or firearms on certain private
    7         school property; providing an effective date.

    9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   10  
   11         Section 1. Subsection (3) of section 790.115, Florida
   12  Statutes, is amended to read:
   13         790.115 Possessing or discharging weapons or firearms at a
   14  school-sponsored event or on school property prohibited;
   15  penalties; exceptions.—
   16         (3)(a) This section does not apply to any law enforcement
   17  officer as defined in s. 943.10(1), (2), (3), (4), (6), (7),
   18  (8), (9), or (14).
   19         (b) This section and s. 790.06(12)(a)10., 11., and 13. do
   20  not prohibit a person who is licensed under s. 790.06 from
   21  carrying a concealed weapon or concealed firearm on private
   22  school property if a religious institution, as defined in s.
   23  775.0861, is located on the property.
   24         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2018.
