    1                          Senate Resolution                        
    2         A resolution recognizing May 14, 2021, as “Sarasota
    3         County Day” in Florida in honor of the 100th
    4         anniversary of the creation of Sarasota County.
    5  
    6         WHEREAS, in 1921, during the 18th Regular Session of the
    7  Legislature, a bill was introduced to create Sarasota County by
    8  carving out a portion of Manatee County, and
    9         WHEREAS, the bill creating Sarasota County was approved by
   10  the Legislature and was signed into law by Governor Cary Hardee
   11  on May 14, 1921, and
   12         WHEREAS, the creation of Sarasota County made it this
   13  state’s 60th county, and
   14         WHEREAS, the county is named after Sarasota Bay, and the
   15  City of Sarasota was named the county seat, and
   16         WHEREAS, establishment of the new county was ratified by
   17  voters on June 15, 1921, effective July 1, 1921, NOW, THEREFORE,

   19  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:
   20  
   21         That May 14, 2021, is recognized as “Sarasota County Day”
   22  in Florida in honor of the 100th anniversary of the creation of
   23  Sarasota County.
