    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to residential swimming pools;
    3         providing a short title; amending s. 515.29, F.S.;
    4         requiring that a specified pool barrier be used at
    5         certain times at a residence where a child younger
    6         than a specified age resides; providing an effective
    7         date.

    9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   10  
   11         Section 1. This act may be cited as the “Sylas Alexander
   12  Gatlyn Act.”
   13         Section 2. Subsection (6) is added to section 515.29,
   14  Florida Statutes, to read:
   15         515.29 Residential swimming pool barrier requirements.—
   16         (6) A swimming pool at a residence that has a child younger
   17  than 5 years of age residing at the residence must have a
   18  physical barrier that meets the requirements of this section in
   19  place any time the child is present at the residence and the
   20  pool is not being used or cleaned.
   21         Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2022.
