       The Conference Committee on SB 2516 recommended the following:
       
    1         Senate Conference Committee Amendment (with title
    2  amendment)
    3  
    4         Delete everything after the enacting clause
    5  and insert:
    6         Section 1. Subsection (5) of section 440.44, Florida
    7  Statutes, is amended to read:
    8         440.44 Workers’ compensation; staff organization.—
    9         (5) OFFICE.—The department, the agency, and the Deputy
   10  Chief Judge shall maintain and keep open during reasonable
   11  business hours an office, which shall be provided in the Capitol
   12  or some other suitable building in the City of Tallahassee, for
   13  the transaction of business under this chapter, at which office
   14  the official records and papers shall be kept. The office shall
   15  be furnished and equipped. The department, the agency, any judge
   16  of compensation claims, or the Deputy Chief Judge may hold
   17  sessions and conduct hearings at any place within the state. The
   18  Office of the Judges of Compensation Claims shall maintain the
   19  17 district offices, 31 judges of compensation claims, and 31
   20  mediators as they exist on June 30, 2001.
   21         Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.

   24  And the title is amended as follows:
   25         Delete everything before the enacting clause
   26  and insert:
   27                        A bill to be entitled                      
   28         An act relating to the Office of the Judges of
   29         Compensation Claims; amending s. 440.44, F.S.;
   30         deleting a requirement for the office to maintain
   31         district offices and personnel at a certain level;
   32         providing an effective date.
