    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to the Family and Medical Leave
    3         Insurance Benefits Fund; creating s. 444.015, F.S.;
    4         creating the Family and Medical Leave Insurance
    5         Benefits Fund under the Department of Financial
    6         Services; providing the purpose of the trust fund;
    7         providing for future review and termination of the
    8         trust fund; providing a contingent effective date.

   10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   11  
   12         Section 1. Section 444.015, Florida Statutes, is created to
   13  read:
   14         444.015Family and Medical Leave Insurance Benefits Fund.—
   15         (1)The Family and Medical Leave Insurance Benefits Fund is
   16  created under the Department of Financial Services. Moneys
   17  credited to the trust fund shall be used for the purpose of
   18  administering the family and medical leave insurance benefits
   19  program. Funds credited to the trust fund shall consist of
   20  contributions collected pursuant to s. 444.012. Only the
   21  secretary or his or her designee may authorize expenditures from
   22  the fund.
   23         (2)In accordance with s. 19(f)(2), Art. III of the State
   24  Constitution, the Family and Medical Leave Insurance Benefits
   25  Fund, unless terminated sooner, shall be terminated on July 1,
   26  2026. Before its scheduled termination, the trust fund shall be
   27  reviewed as provided in s. 215.3206(1) and (2).
   28         Section 2. This act shall take effect on the same date that
   29  SB ___ or similar legislation takes effect, if such legislation
   30  is adopted in the same legislative session or an extension
   31  thereof and becomes a law.
