       The Committee on Community Affairs (Ingoglia) recommended the
       following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
    2  
    3         Delete lines 13 - 25
    4  and insert:
    5         (1) Notwithstanding the terms of any county charter to the
    6  contrary, a person may not appear on the ballot for reelection
    7  to the office of county commissioner if, by the end of his or
    8  her current term of office, the person will have served, or but
    9  for resignation would have served, in that office for 8
   10  consecutive years. In any county in which term limits are not
   11  imposed by county charter as of the effective date of this act,
   12  service of a term of office which commenced before November 8,
   13  2022, may not be counted toward the limitation imposed by this
   14  subsection.
   15         (2) This section does not supersede any term limit imposed
   16  by a county charter which is more restrictive than the term
   17  limit imposed in this section.
