    2         An act relating to wastewater grants; amending s.
    3         403.0673, F.S.; authorizing the Department of
    4         Environmental Protection to provide grants for certain
    5         projects to restore specified impaired water bodies
    6         and water segments; providing an effective date.

    8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
    9  
   10         Section 1. Subsection (1) of section 403.0673, Florida
   11  Statutes, is amended to read:
   12         403.0673 Wastewater grant program.—A wastewater grant
   13  program is established within the Department of Environmental
   14  Protection.
   15         (1) Subject to the appropriation of funds by the
   16  Legislature, the department may provide grants for the following
   17  projects within a basin management action plan, an alternative
   18  restoration plan adopted by final order, or a rural area of
   19  opportunity under s. 288.0656 or intended to restore a water
   20  body or water body segment listed as impaired pursuant to s.
   21  403.067 which will individually or collectively reduce excess
   22  nutrient pollution:
   23         (a) Projects to retrofit onsite sewage treatment and
   24  disposal systems to upgrade such systems to enhanced nutrient
   25  reducing onsite sewage treatment and disposal systems.
   26         (b) Projects to construct, upgrade, or expand facilities to
   27  provide advanced waste treatment, as defined in s. 403.086(4).
   28         (c) Projects to connect onsite sewage treatment and
   29  disposal systems to central sewer facilities.
   30         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2023.
