       The Committee on Fiscal Policy (Burgess) recommended the
       following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
    2  
    3         Delete lines 133 - 144
    4  and insert:
    5  wireless communications device during instructional time, except
    6  when used solely for educational purposes as directed by his or
    7  her teacher. A teacher may withhold a student’s wireless
    8  communications device during instructional time.
    9         Section 3. Section 1006.1494, Florida Statutes, is created
   10  to read:
   11         1006.1494 Prohibiting student access to social media
   12  platforms.—
   13         (1) Each school district shall prohibit and prevent
   14  students from accessing social media platforms through the use
   15  of Internet access provided by the school district, except when
   16  such use is solely for educational purposes as directed by their
   17  teacher.
