       The Committee on Judiciary (Torres) recommended the following:
       
    1         Senate Substitute for Amendment (714748) (with title
    2  amendment)
    3  
    4         Delete everything after the enacting clause
    5  and insert:
    6         Section 1. Section 29.25, Florida Statutes, is created to
    7  read:
    8         29.25 Translation services.—
    9         (1) A court may contract with a third-party translation
   10  service provider for translation services for civil cases.
   11         (2) Translation services may be made available to any party
   12  requesting such services, regardless of whether the party is
   13  represented by counsel.
   14         (3) Nothing in this section may be construed to prohibit a
   15  party from providing for his or her own translation service or
   16  third-party translation service provider.
   17         (4) The provision of translation services under this
   18  section is an optional court-related function, and nothing in
   19  this section requires a court to provide such services.
   20         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2024.

   24         Delete everything before the enacting clause
   25  and insert:
   26                        A bill to be entitled                      
   27         An act relating to translation services; creating s.
   28         29.25, F.S.; authorizing courts to contract with a
   29         third-party translation service provider to provide
   30         translation services; providing that such services may
   31         be made available to any party requesting them,
   32         regardless of whether represented by counsel;
   33         providing construction; providing that a court is not
   34         required to provide translation services; providing an
   35         effective date.
