    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to peer support for first responders;
    3         amending s. 111.09, F.S.; revising the definition of
    4         the term “first responder” to include correctional
    5         officers and correctional probation officers for the
    6         provision of peer support; providing an effective
    7         date.

    9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   10  
   11         Section 1. Paragraph (b) of subsection (1) of section
   12  111.09, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:
   13         111.09 Peer support for first responders.—
   14         (1) For purposes of this section, the term:
   15         (b) “First responder” has the same meaning as provided in
   16  s. 112.1815 and includes 911 public safety telecommunicators as
   17  defined in s. 401.465, correctional officers as defined in s.
   18  943.10(2), and correctional probation officers as defined in s.
   19  943.10(3).
   20         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2024.
