    1                          Senate Resolution                        
    2         A resolution designating February 29, 2024, as “Israel
    3         Day at the Capitol.”
    4  
    5         WHEREAS, for seven decades, the United States and Israel
    6  have maintained a special relationship based on shared
    7  democratic values, common strategic interests, and moral bonds
    8  of friendship and mutual respect, and
    9         WHEREAS, Florida has long had large and vibrant Israeli and
   10  Jewish communities, and
   11         WHEREAS, student groups from universities across the state,
   12  including NolePac at Florida State University, have worked
   13  diligently to combat antisemitism on campus and strengthen the
   14  United States-Israel alliance, and
   15         WHEREAS, in May 2019, more than 20 strategic partnerships
   16  and memoranda of understanding were established between entities
   17  in Florida and Israel, including agreements between leading
   18  universities and an extension of the Florida-Israel Innovation
   19  Partnership in which Space Florida entered into pioneering
   20  bilateral partnership with the Israel Innovation Authority to
   21  support joint aerospace research and development projects, and
   22         WHEREAS, Florida benefits economically from the partnership
   23  with Israel, with more than $400 million in exports from Florida
   24  to Israel in 2022, and
   25         WHEREAS, the State of Florida has had a longstanding
   26  alliance with the State of Israel, NOW, THEREFORE,

   28  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:
   29  
   30         That the Florida Senate designates February 29, 2024, as
   31  “Israel Day at the Capitol.”
