       The Committee on Governmental Oversight and Accountability
       (Hooper) recommended the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
    2  
    3         Delete lines 35 - 70
    4  and insert:
    5  XVI of chapter 468 or part I or part II of chapter 475.
    6         Section 2. Section 455.2124, Florida Statutes, is amended
    7  to read:
    8         455.2124 Proration of or not requiring continuing
    9  education.—
   10         (1) A board, or the department when there is no board, may:
   11         (a)(1) Prorate continuing education for new licensees by
   12  requiring half of the required continuing education for any
   13  applicant who becomes licensed with more than half the renewal
   14  period remaining and no continuing education for any applicant
   15  who becomes licensed with half or less than half of the renewal
   16  period remaining; or
   17         (b)(2) Require no continuing education until the first full
   18  renewal cycle of the licensee.

   20  These options shall also apply when continuing education is
   21  first required or the number of hours required is increased by
   22  law or the board, or the department when there is no board.
   23         (2)(a) A board, or the department when there is no board,
   24  shall exempt an individual from completing the continuing
   25  education required for renewal of a license for a renewal period
   26  if:
   27         1. The individual holds an active license issued by the
   28  board or department to practice the profession;
   29         2. The individual has continuously held the license for at
   30  least 10 years; and
   31         3. No disciplinary action is imposed on the individual’s
   32  license.
   33         (b) This subsection does not apply to certified public
   34  accountants regulated pursuant to chapter 473, to appraisers
   35  regulated pursuant to part II of chapter 475, to architects or
   36  interior designers regulated pursuant to chapter 481, or to
   37  contractors regulated pursuant to chapter 489.
